EcoArt SoFla’s primary role is to catalyze the emergence of South Florida as a center for EcoArt practice. To accomplish this it will be necessary to reach out to, and educate leaders of key environmental and cultural stakeholder organizations, practicing resident artists and the general public, in South Florida, regarding the significant role EcoArt can play to enhance responsible stewardship of the region’s ecologies by:
- Holding one-on-one and small group discussions and interviews with leaders of scientific, cultural, environmental, philanthropic and government agencies and organizations regarding the educational potential of EcoArt;
- Organizing symposia, lecture series, film events, exhibitions and conferences to showcase the most effective EcoArt projects from around the world;
- Encouraging and educating professional artists resident in Florida to engage EcoArt as a new creative direction, including especially through long-term, EcoArt apprenticeships
- Catalyzing the development of similar EcoArt community education and apprenticeship programs in each of South Florida’s f ive watersheds; and
- Identifying opportunities for the development of EcoArt projects, and matching these opportunities with appropriate EcoArt practitioners.
